Crinkle was a Nome and a Colonel in the Nome Army.

Description

Colonel Crinkle was a dapper-looking Nome who was next in command after General Blug.

History

After General Blug was disposed of, Crinkle was temporarily promoted to general. The Nome King told him of his plan to tunnel into the Land of Oz and conquer the Emerald City, but Crinkle argued that it was impossible. The Nome King had him taken to the torture chamber where he was sliced into thin slices and fed to the seven-headed dogs. Guph was made General in Crinkle's place. (The Emerald City of Oz)

Crinkle had his posthumous revenge by giving the dogs very bad indigestion. (Who's Who in Oz)

Background

The reference to 7-headed dogs may be an allusion to the 3-headed dog which guards the Underworld in Greek mythology.
