Macvelt is a republic near the Land of Quok. ("The Queen of Quok")

Background

As the story first appeared in 1901, the name Macvelt is presumably a reference to the then-U.S. President William McKinley and Vice President Theodore Roosevelt, who would soon succeed to the higher office.

While L. Frank Baum never tied the countries in this story to his wider Oz mythology, the Hanff-Martin Map chose to put Macvelt between the Laughing Valley and the Land of Mo.
