Michael Thomas (August 27, 1949 - August 24, 2009) was an actor who played Scarecrow in The Wonderful Land of Oz. It was his one of his first film roles as he also appeared in a horror adult film parody directed by Barry Mahon in 1969. He took a break from acting but returned to it in the early 2000s with various low-budget films mostly intended for adult audiences. In the 1970s he got a makeup job on TV's Saturday Night Live (1975) where, among countless other gigs during his 20 seasons there, he collaborated on creating the look of the Coneheads. Michael also was head of the makeup department and applied the makeup for Michael Jackson, who also played the Scarecrow in the 1978 film version of The Wiz.
